The Bush Center is home to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, and the George W. Bush Institute, the nonpartisan, public policy arm of the Bush Center, seamlessly working together to preserve history and shape the future.
One way to connect with the Bush Center and dive deeper into issues and policy areas is through Engage at the Bush Center, presented by Highland Capital Management, a program series that brings authors, thought leaders, and newsmakers to the Bush Center. Next up in the series on May 21 is The Secret Service: Protecting the President Everywhere, in which a panel of former U.S. Secret Service agents will pull back the curtain and discuss all that goes into protecting the President of the United States. Overflow seating (which includes visits from special guests) remains available. The June 12 Highland Capital Lecture: Today’s Geopolitical Flashpoints will bring together global political experts Ian Bremmer and Niall Ferguson to discuss the most urgent geopolitical challenges of the day. Dana Perino of Fox News Channel will moderate the discussion, which will delve into the panelists’ unique perspectives on today’s global hot spots, including China, Russia, North Korea, and the Middle East.
Now through October 6, the Bush Center is presenting a special exhibit exploring presidential retreats, Presidential Retreats: Away from the White House. Four featured retreats – Camp David in Frederick County, Maryland; Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas; LBJ Ranch in Stonewall, Texas; and Walker’s Point in Kennebunkport, Maine – are highlighted in-depth, revealing how U.S. presidents have used these special places for work, rejuvenation, and rest. The exhibit also explores other presidential retreats over the past two centuries from Mount Vernon to Mar-a-Lago.
