City Electric Supply (CES) is a top-10 electrical wholesale distributor in North America. Our history traces back to the U.K. in 1951, when founder Tom Mackie established City Electrical Factors (CEF). He built the company on the belief that empowering people to make local decisions enables them to best serve their customers. In 1983, Mr. Mackie brought that approach to North America, guiding the company’s expansion as City Electric Supply and opening CES’s first U.S. branch in Tampa, Florida.
Today, we operate in 32 U.S. states, Puerto Rico and seven Canadian provinces. With more than 750 locations and six fulfillment centers across North America, we also operate seven in-house brands under the TAMCO Group: Centaur, Tamlite, F4P, Fusion Lamps, RPP, Addvent and Thirteen Twenty-Nine. Our Co-CEOs and longtime team members John Gray, with 40 years of service, and Blair Feidler, with 29 years of service, lead the company.
How does City Electric Supply help its clients build value?
Our branches operate with the independence of local business owners, giving our teams the autonomy to make purchasing decisions tailored to their unique needs and community. We also help customers build value through a one-stop shop approach, providing them with what they need to complete projects.
With over 35,000 products in stock and specialized industry solutions, we offer electrical solutions for contractors, electricians and anyone who walks through our doors. Our knowledgeable branch teams help customers find the right solutions, whether they are working on a small service call or large commercial jobs.
We continue to expand our specialized solutions, relying on innovations to provide electrical products, services and solutions across the industry.
Our specialized teams, like CES One-Line Service and Industrial Automation Solutions (IAS), ensure our branch teams are equipped to understand specific job-site needs and provide the essential supplies and solutions for customers to get the job done. Our National Solutions Division (NSD) provides specialized expertise and resources to help customers coordinate the needs of complex, large-scale projects.
What differentiates City Electric Supply within your industry?
CES is committed to innovation and supporting our customers as their needs evolve. Our offerings that differentiate CES in the electrical wholesale market include:
- CES One-Line Service: CES One-Line Service was created in partnership with Siemens and designed to reduce long lead times for panelboards and switchboards. The service streamlines the process from diagram to finished product in days with over 99% accuracy.
- Industrial Automation Solutions (IAS): In partnership with Siemens Digital Industries (DI), IAS expands CES’ capabilities into industrial automation and control systems, with specialized expertise in areas such as application engineering, control panels, drive startups and PLC systems. This partnership gives customers a single resource to streamline complex automation needs.
- National Solutions Division (NSD): National Solutions Division (NSD) provides a comprehensive one-stop shop and centralized point of contact for large-scale projects from diverse verticals that demand specialized knowledge, attention and coordination for projects of any size. These technical solutions provide specialized services to complex, high-demand industries, delivering the expertise and resources required to enable sustainable growth.
- CES Wire Services: CES Wire Services accommodates custom wire cuts, paralleling services and more with a wide range of colors and sizes. By providing the exact wire cuts needed, we minimize jobsite preparation and help our customers save time on the jobsite.
Equally important is our commitment to giving back. In 2016, we created CES Cares®, our social impact division, to unify our philanthropic, charitable and volunteer efforts. Since its founding, CES Cares® has raised more than $5 million in charitable donations across four core pillars: children, veterans, people experiencing homelessness and the future of the electrical trade.
Through local partnerships with organizations, including Children’s Medical Center, Vogel Alcove, The Bridge and Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center, CES Cares® works to make a positive impact on the communities we serve. We also invest in the next generation of the workforce through initiatives like the Brighter Future Scholarship, which supports aspiring electricians across the U.S. and Canada.
What benefits does City Electric Supply enjoy by doing business in the Dallas Region?
CES benefits from the Dallas Region’s strong business environment, economy and access to a diverse and talented workforce. We are proud to have our headquarters and 19 branches in North Texas, with the first branch opening in 2007. North Texas is also home to one of CES’s fulfillment centers, which opened in 2019. With 371 team members in North Texas, we’re excited to grow alongside the businesses and people that make it a great place to live and work.
Why did City Electric Supply become a member of the Dallas Regional Chamber?
CES became a member of the DRC through our parent company, Labora Group. As a company headquartered in North Texas, we value being connected to the broader business community where many of our team members live and work.
Our membership allows us to build relationships, learn more about opportunities and developments shaping the region, and contribute to the Dallas business community. We look forward to connecting with other DRC members and supporting the region that is home to our North American headquarters, parent company, fulfillment center and dozens of local CES branches.
How has City Electric Supply changed in the last five years?
In 2023, Thomas Hartland-Mackie transitioned from CEO to Chairman after 15 years. To guide operations and strategy across both CES and CEF, we established its inaugural global roles, appointing Jeremy Saunders as Global CEO and Phil Flaherty as Global CFO. In North America, the company transitioned to a Co-CEO structure now led by longtime executives John Gray and Blair Feidler following the retirement of Andrew Dawes in April 2026.
CES also continues to invest in the growth and development of team members across North America, where our total workforce has risen to more than 5,500 people. In 2025, CES had 644 promotions across the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.
Together, these investments position CES to continue evolving along with the industry. CES remains committed to building lasting relationships with our local communities and delivering personal, flexible and reliable service for our customers.
