About Get on Board
What is Get on Board? Get on Board is a two-part signature event of the young professional program designed to educate young professionals on the dos and don’ts of being on a nonprofit board. Once training is complete, members of the DRC Young Professionals will have the ability to apply for available spots on nonprofit partners Boards across the Dallas Region.
When is Get on Board? Get on Board will kick off with an interactive skill-building session in the Fall of 2020, where young professionals will get to learn more about the participating organizations and with a panel of participating nonprofit. Applications will open during this Fall event and will remain open for three (3) weeks.
Who should apply? Young professionals ready to connect passion with purpose and take the next step in their philanthropic journey by joining a Board.
Application Process: Applications are a three (3) step process. Step one is an internal application. The applications will open for DRC Young Professional members and will remain open for three (3) weeks. Applications will be reviewed by the selection committee, and up to three (3) candidates will be selected per a Board position available. Step two is the nonprofit participant review. Once the internal team submits the candidates to the nonprofit participants, nonprofits will review the applications and select the candidates they would like to move forward to interviews. Step 3 is nonprofit interviews. Nonprofits will set up interviews or screenings with their selected candidates. The final selection of new board members will take place before December 1, with newly selected Board members beginning their terms in 2021.
