Senior Vice President, Member Engagement

Jennifer Schmiel leads the DRC’s internal member engagement team and collaborates with volunteer leadership throughout the business community to provide the resources to support and sustain the DRC’s programs and initiatives.

Her primary objectives include fostering positive relationships with existing members and optimizing their experience, increasing corporate investments, and promoting membership benefits, events, and the DRC’s leadership development programs. Schmiel and her team also work to increase member participation and retention, and identify ways for member companies and community leaders to enhance their success.

Prior to joining the DRC, Schmiel worked as Vice President of Membership & Marketing for the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce; Manager of Member Services for the Greater Houston Partnership; Membership Development Director for the Charleston (South Carolina) Metro Chamber of Commerce; and Manager of Membership and Special Projects for the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce.

During her 20-plus-year career with chambers, she has been active committee and board member for the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives and the National Association of Membership Development; and as a faculty member for the USCC Institute of Organizational Management of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Schmiel holds a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Houston and a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. She graduated from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute of Organizational Management in 2013, and earned her Certified Chamber Executive designation from ACCE. Schmiel serves on the boards of the Spring Valley Athletic Association and the St. Patrick Catholic School PTA.
