Leadership Dallas Info Session offers exclusive insight into program, application process

By Mallory Mullis, Leadership Programs Coordinator

Leaders of the Dallas Region’s business community gathered at the Dallas Regional Chamber’s office Wednesday, March 15, to learn about Leadership Dallas (LD), the DRC’s flagship leadership program, at an LD Information Session.

Founded by the DRC in 1975, LD is the region’s premier leadership program, designed to help top leaders address challenges and opportunities facing the Dallas Region through a one-of-a-kind curriculum. Applications for the LD Class of 2024 are open through 5 p.m. Friday, May 5.

At the information session, attendees heard from Megan Miers, DRC Director of Leadership Programs. Miers shared exclusive insight into the program’s goals and curriculum, the application and selection process, the qualities of a strong application, and the benefits LD for participants’ company, career, and community.

Jonathan Blum, attorney at Holland & Knight LLP and 2023 Chair of LD Alumni, moderated an engaging, informative panel between three LD alumni: Tre’ Black (LD ’09), President and CEO of On-Target Supplies and Logistics; Mitzi Chollampel (LD ’18), Assistant Vice President of Community Engagement at DFW International Airport; and Temeji Berry (LD ’23), Assistant Fire Chief at Dallas Fire-Rescue Department.

Blum asked the panelists to share the highlights of their respective LD experiences, specifically their “aha moment.”

Berry remarked that her moment came very early on in the program. Recalling when she first looked around her table at the LD retreat in September 2022, Berry remembers feeling empowered by being in the presence of so many strong leaders.

“Personally, the program [has] allowed me to own my seat in the same room and at the table of other great leaders in the Dallas Region,” Berry expressed.

The program wrapped up with testimony from Gabe Madison, President of Bonton Farms, on how Leadership Dallas inspired her to make a momentous career change.
