Leadership Dallas Alumni

The Leadership Dallas Alumni Association, founded in 1976, is an organization dedicated to and made up of alumni from Leadership Dallas classes and graduates of similar city-sponsored leadership programs who now call Dallas their home. Its mission is to educate the alumni of Leadership Dallas on significant issues facing the greater Dallas community and to encourage alumni to become active, engaged leaders in the community.

Graduation from the class does not signify an end, but represents the beginning of a lifetime of opportunity as a member of the Leadership Dallas alumni network. Our active alumni organization provides a continuing forum for graduates and a mechanism for maintaining contacts.

Membership in the alumni organization is not mandatory, but is highly encouraged to continue the training, learning, and more importantly – relationships – built through participation in the Leadership Dallas program.

Famous Leadership Dallas Alums

Graduates of the program include former U.S. Trade Secretary and Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk; former City Manager Mary Suhm; State Representatives Eric Johnson, Helen Giddings, and Rafael Anchia; former U.S. Attorney Paul Coggins; civic and business leaders Liz Minyard, Tom Baker, Ken Menges; and many more. Leadership Dallas has graduated more than 1,900 men and women who continue to provide leadership in the region.

Staying Engaged and Giving Back

It is expected that alumni, as trustees of our community, will go forth and participate in constructive community change. They are also encouraged to serve on committees, boards, and organizations throughout the city. Alumni have the responsibility to ensure the perpetuation of leadership in the city; therefore, it is expected that they will support the work of Leadership Dallas as program advisors and financial contributors.

How It Runs

The Alumni Association is governed by a Board of Directors (LDAAB) made up of alumni from various class years. There are four Standing Committees of the LDAAB which ensure the fulfillment of the organizations mission; Membership and Governance, Programs, Outreach and Volunteerism, and Communications. Board members serve as chairs for each of the standing committees and participation is open to active members of the Leadership Dallas Alumni Association.
