Job Shadowing Program
Job shadowing is an academically motivating activity designed to give middle and high school students an up-close look at the world of work and to answer the question, "Why do I have to learn this?" In a fun, fast-paced, four-hour time span, young people have a new perspective on their studies, as well as showing them a number of opportunities for their future. We match businesses and organizations with local students and provide all the tools necessary for a successful experience. Join us this year in showing students the ‘learning to earning’ connection. Becoming an education partner not only benefits our young people, it is good for business!

Workplace Flexibility
In 2004, the City of Dallas was selected as one of eight cities nationwide to launch the campaign for Workplace Flexibility and was therefore included in the Alfred P. Sloan Award competition to honor companies in the eight communities that have successfully used flexibility to meet both business and employee goals. The Greater Dallas Chamber is proud to partner with The Center for Workplace Preparation and When Work Works in honoring sixteen Dallas companies as semi-finalists for the 2005 Sloan Award.
The Greater Dallas Chamber will be hosting programs and awards ceremonies annually, featuring three of the semi-finalists who will speak to the topic of workplace flexibility.
DFW Regional Clusters:
Background:
The DFW Regional Workforce Leadership Council (RWLC) is a partnership between representatives from industry, workforce providers and education providers in the DFW area. It was formed in 2002 to address a perceived information gap between employers, academia, and workforce suppliers. To close this gap, the Council created targeted industry cluster groups comprised of employers, local workforce boards, community partners, and education providers. The clusters allow industries to coordinate workforce activities while leveraging resources for maximum results. To date, the Council has formed clusters in the following industries: Aerospace, Healthcare, Semiconductor, Logistics, and Math/Science Readiness. The Council is currently researching possible clusters in the Information Technology, Trucking, Construction and Tourism industries.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the DFW Regional Workforce Leadership Council is to develop sustainable, industry-led workforce solutions that address regional needs.
Vision Elements:
To accomplish the mission statement, the Council developed the following vision of how the industry cluster system would work:
- Region seen as one borderless, seamless, and accessible labor market
- New companies are continuously arriving in the DFW region and recruiting new employees
- Multiple clusters built to meet demand and emerging occupations
- Ample funding committed with clarity and aligned with goals
- Providing people for jobs and jobs for people
- Schools to produce work ready talent
