New Breakfast Series Gives YP Members Insight into the Role of Elected Officials & Government Leaders

The Government Leaders Breakfast Series is yet another way for YP members to learn about the critical issues shaping our region and how they can take part in creating new solutions. From healthcare to public safety, members are hearing firsthand from elected officials and government leaders the policy issues that are affecting North Texas. Modeled after the highly successful CEO Luncheon Series, the Government Leaders Breakfast Series aims to give YP members insight into the world of policy issues at the local, county and state level. The YP Government Leaders breakfast series hosts one leader and ten to twenty YP members for a group discussion on these issues, the process of running for office, and any advice they would give to an emerging leader.

The breakfast series kicked-off in July at a breakfast with Councilwoman Ann Margolin just days after her successful run for the Dallas City Council. Other breakfasts have included County Commissioners Matt Shaheen (Collin County) and Mike Cantrell (Dallas County) offering different view points on healthcare, education and public safety at the county level. Most recently, YP hosted Judge Jim Foster for a breakfast event.

Scheduled for August 27, YP members will have a chance to meet and dialogue with State Representative Robert Miklos of District 101. This series is an exclusive opportunity for YP members and one of the many benefits of membership.

If you would like more information on joining the YP program, or know of someone in your company that would benefit, please contact Julie Tanner at (214) 746-6741 or yp@dallaschamber.org.
