Live Healthy North Texas

live healthyThere is an enormous collaborative effort developing in North Texas to help get our community healthier and more active. The Dallas Regional Chamber is teaming up with numerous other North Texas Chambers to support Live Healthy North Texas 2010, a 100-day wellness challenge. With these partnerships we are hoping to reach out to more organizations than ever before in the history of Live Healthy and so far it’s working…

Informationals are taking place all throughout the region with companies, universities, organizations, and more getting the chance to listen to what Live Healthy has to offer themselves and their co-workers and then signing up. A new addition to this year’s challenge is the Methodist Health System, who not only wants to aide their workforce in becoming healthier but also sees how the added value of a happy staff will impact the care they are able to provide their clients. Also coming on board are the Health Industry Council of Dallas-Fort Worth and the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council, each council knowing that we can all work together to promote wellness in our community.

However, don’t start to think that Live Healthy is just for companies in the healthcare industry - Southern Methodist University, Frost Bank, and the YMCA of Dallas are just a few others that have participated before and benefitted from the program. With low administrative responsibilities and even lower cost, this wellness program makes sense for organizations with 2 or 20,000 staff members. Healthcare reform looks as though it will be passed in Washington sometime soon and this program could be the best way to get a jump start not only on your New Year’s resolutions but on a possible tax break and reduction in insurance premiums from Washington.
