In June 2010, a Texas delegation led by Texas Governor Rick Perry and First Lady Anita Perry, will be traveling to China to represent the state at the World Expo in Shanghai. Together with the TexasOne™ Program, tourism and trade partners, state agencies, community partners, and business leaders, the Texas delegation will host a “Salute to Texas” within the U.S. Pavilion, June 14-19, 2010.
The 2010 World Exposition in Shanghai will be the first registered EXPO in a developing country. Officially known as “EXPO Shanghai 2010”, it will last 184 days (May 1 – October 31, 2010) and provide China an opportunity to show off its remarkable economic growth. The Expo will also give foreign nations and companies a chance to further develop business partnerships with Chinese companies. An estimated 70 million visitors: 60 million Chinese and 10 million foreign travelers are expected to attend with a projected 5-6 million in attendance at the U.S. Pavilion. More than 170 nations will be represented at EXPO.
