This year’s Live Healthy Dallas program concluded on April 23, 2009 and was accomplished with great success. The Live Healthy Dallas 100 Day Challenge is a team based weight loss and physical activity program that assists individuals and teammates in making positive changes that lead to a healthier lifestyle. By competing in Live Healthy Dallas participants begin to form healthy habits through physical activity and improved nutrition.

With over double the participants of 2008, Live Healthy Dallas 2009 saw a total of 607,662 pounds lost, 325,846,835 activity minutes logged, and 21,723,122 miles of activity recorded. Overall it was a tremendous success, with plans already in the works to expand in 2010.

Live Healthy Dallas will be transforming to Live Healthy North Texas in 2010. Next year’s program will target not only the Dallas region, but will work to positively involve and impact the greater North Texas region. In this united endeavor our region can effectively become the healthiest in the state, creating a positive impact on our area’s citizens.

Live Healthy North Texas will also be a 100 day program, January 14 to April 23, setting a precedent of healthy behavior to carry on long after the program’s conclusion. While anyone can sign up for Live Healthy North Texas, one of the easiest methods is to implement the Live Healthy program as a workplace wellness initiative. It is an affordable option to creating a more productive and vital workplace, and offers a fun and competitive opportunity for employees to interact. Also, as part of Live Healthy North Texas teams and organizations have the opportunity to compete against other area companies.

From Patti Clapp, a Vice President of the Dallas Regional Chamber:
“The Chamber realizes that healthcare costs are a concern for all business large or small. Because of this, the Live Healthy Dallas program brings an opportunity for businesses to engage in a wellness initiative for not only their company, but one benefitting the region as a whole.”
