Live Healthy North Texas (LHNT) continues to grow and pick up steam as we enter the holiday season. Now is the time for your company, city, school district, organization or just a group of friends to join the North Texas community in a new and exciting program to improve the health of not just Dallas, but all of North Texas.
The Live Healthy North Texas 100 Day Challenge is a team based weight loss and physical activity program that assists individuals and their teammates in making positive changes that lead to a healthier lifestyle. By competing in Live Healthy North Texas participants will begin to form healthy habits through physical activity and improved nutrition. In this way Dallas and the North Texas Region will become forerunners in the vital race to create a healthier America.
Live Healthy is a program that promotes physical activity and proper nutrition to achieve or maintain a healthy body weight. The goal is to impact individual behavior and the culture of worksites and communities to incorporate healthy living into everyday life. As a team based program, LHNT is designed to help Americans make positive lifestyle changes during the course of 100 days.
All participants of Live Healthy North Texas will benefit in the form of healthier eating habits, increased physical activity levels, positive attitudes, and even get a training t-shirt. LHNT is often most effectively done in the workplace, creating a positive environment for health promotion in your home away from home with the added benefit of fun and healthy competition amongst co-workers and between companies and organizations.
"We are a big supporter of health, wellness, and colleague engagement programs, and the Live Healthy America 60-day challenge gave us an opportunity to put our own colleagues to the test,” said Tammy Steele, Concentra Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management. “We had expected many people to participate, but more than 1,600 employees joined together in teams across the country in an effort to get active and be healthy. Through the outstanding colleague involvement and the direction of the Live Healthy America challenge, Concentra colleagues lost a total of 8,335 pounds and logged nearly 61,000 hours of physical activity, helping to improve individual’s health and create a sense of teamwork and stronger culture of wellness.”
At the Dallas Regional Chamber, we want you to be involved in Live Healthy North Texas too and helping to promote the importance of living healthy lifestyles, especially in the workplace. There are two informationals for the program on December 9th and 10th at 2:00 PM in the chamber conference center. Troy Vincent, national director of Live Healthy, will have an in depth presentation of the initiative and answer your questions. Please check the events section of the chamber website for more details or e-mail healthcare@dallaschamber.org.
