Ronald J. Gafford

Mr. Gafford began his professional career with Henry C. Beck Company in 1972, then moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1981 to join Trammell Crow Company. In 1987, he moved back to Dallas and joined Austin Commercial as Executive Vice President; in 1988 was promoted to President. From 1995-1998, Mr. Gafford also served as President of Austin Bridge & Road. In 1996, Mr. Gafford was named President of Austin Industries and in 2001 he was named Chief Executive Officer. Austin Industries is the parent company of Austin Commercial (commercial construction), Austin Bridge & Road (bridge and road construction), and Austin Industrial (industrial plan construction and maintenance). Mr. Gafford serves as Chairman of all these operating companies and British American Insurance Company. Mr. Gafford holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University (1972), and AMP from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business (1987).
Mr. Gafford is active in the community, currently holding several board positions including the 2007 Chairman of the board for the Dallas Regional Chamber; board member of the Dallas Citizens Council, Trinity Industries, Interfaith Housing Coalition Foundation, and Chairman of the board for the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church Foundation. He is past President of the Dallas Chapter, Associated General Contractors of America, and past Chairman of the Lone Star Chapter, Young Presidents’ Organization and the Dallas Chapter of World Presidents’ Organization. In addition, he has held board memberships on the Real Estate Council, Visiting Nurses Association, North Texas public Broadcasting (KERA/KDTN) and Texas Building Branch, Associated General Contractors of America. Mr. Gafford has also served two terms on the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church Session.
Ron is married to Rebecca Moseley of Sherman, Texas. They have two children: Jennifer, 32, living in Denver, Colorado, and David, 29, in Dallas, Texas.
