Greetings,
I don’t know about you but I’m getting communications from people and organizations in ways I never dreamed of before. U.S. mail and emails are working well but in some ways seem a little old fashioned. We are in the midst of an exciting communications revolution, a once in a lifetime change; social media is a growth industry. Your chamber is changing with the times, adapting to these new forms of communication to better serve you.
We have learned that no one communication distribution method is enough to keep you fully informed about events that affect your business and our region. So, we are joining the revolution to do everything we can to make sure we’re reaching our members and the DFW business community in both a timely and effective manner.
We’ve already made big changes to the DRC website, www.dallaschamber.org, with more to come. If you haven’t visited it recently, you should. Our focus is being redirected to attracting new businesses and people to Dallas and the region, as the times are ideal for us to highlight all that is great about the area.
While we are new on the Social Media front we’re now twittering and blogging, and we’ve just created a DRC You Tube channel. And, you will also find our group, Dallas Regional Chamber, on Linked In. These social media tools, blogs, Twitter and Linked In, among others are becoming the latest greatest tools of communication for business as well as social interests. While not everyone has signed on for new communications media, the growing trend makes it worthwhile.
The Dallas Regional Chamber is committed to being a reliable and informative source of information which can help you grow your business as well as advance and defend it on the public policy front. With the introduction of the Dallas Regional Chamber’s new social media outlets, we now have other ways to help you accomplish your goals.
We are making other changes at the Chamber to help our members as well. In June we announced that we changed our publisher of many years and will now work with Texas Monthly Custom Publications (TMCP) on the creation of all Chamber print media. TMCP is already hard at work improving the overall quality, distribution and resourcefulness of our six publications which include: Dallas Newcomer & Relocation Journal, Dallas Regional Industrial Real Estate Guide, Dallas Regional Office Guide, Economic Development Guide for Dallas, our annual report, and the Dallas Regional Chamber Membership Directory. We know that our solid track record of leadership in Dallas over the past 100 years, combined with the 36 years of Texas Monthly’s publishing experience, will add new luster to our great, often used and useful publications.
With that said, we realize it’s not the communication tool that really matters, it’s the message we craft and deliver. We will keep our focus on the goals of the Chamber and on the importance of our continuing efforts to make the City and the region even more successful. As the area’s leading membership driven business organization we will continue to promote prosperity through sound public policies, focused economic development, member education and engagement. We are providing new ways for you to learn about our activities, to join in and participate in programs and activities which will make us the finest place in the U.S. - to live and do business.
Action item: We invite you to take time now to add value to your Chamber membership by adding our social media links to your bookmarks so you can begin to follow us and learn of events and activities that could be helpful to your business.
