Does your organization use any of the following strategies to create effective and flexible workplaces?
- Flexible start and finish times
- Working from home arrangements
- Compressed workweeks
- Quality part-time work
- Options to phase into retirement
- Allow new parents to come back to work gradually after the birth or adoption of a child

If so, you might be eligible for local and national recognition as an employer of choice! The Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility recognize organizations that are striving to find new ways to make work work in today’s changing economy. Now in its fifth year, the prestigious awards program is expanding its application base to organizations nation-wide for the first time in 2009.
Dallas is one of 30 cities and states selected from across the nation for special targeted efforts to share research and practical guidance on workplace flexibility as a When Work Works community. The Chamber is working in collaboration with the national partners of When Work Works to convene local employers to share research, identify best practices locally and nationally, and provide practical advice about how to implement flexibility as a strategic business tool in response to the changing economy and changing workforce.
The on-line application is quick and easy to complete and is available at www.whenworkworks.org. For more information on the Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility, contact Cristina De Los Santos at cdelossantos@dallaschamber.org.
