A New Leadership Perspective Toward Social Capital

When the economy is slowing and business’ are cutting costs, what happens to the non-profit community? Join us as the Chamber welcomes Mark Brewer, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Community Foundation of Central Florida, Inc., as he leads an in-depth discussion on this very topic at the next Leadership Lunch on Friday, September 12th, from noon – 1:30 PM at the Sheraton Dallas.

Brewer will also discuss the differences in generational giving, covering demographic groups ranging from Baby Boomers to the Millennials. Each generation has its own views on everything from work and community to music and retail purchases. These groups have greatly different expectations about their employers and communities; they think differently about volunteering and charitable giving; they make buying decisions differently; and they have very specific likes and dislikes about media and how messages are communicated to them.

How do these differences affect communities and the quality of life? For one, Baby Boomers would travel anywhere for the right job. While in comparison, today Millennials select the place they want to live, then find a job. This single practice is turning old models of economic development upside down, and the nonprofit sector has become the catalyst for the growth and sustainability of today's communities, as well as a key driver for quality of life within the community.

Whether you're a business leader, nonprofit executive, volunteer leader, or political leader, you won’t want to miss this leadership primer! Join us Friday, September 12 from noon – 1:30 PM at the Sheraton Dallas. Click here to register for the event.
