North Texas Technology and Life Science Industries Featured in NYC

On Friday, September 19, 2008, the NASDAQ/Dallas Regional Chamber Index (DTEC) will celebrate its 3rd consecutive year presiding over the NASDAQ Stock Market's Closing Bell Ceremony. Executives from leading DFW technology and life science companies will travel to the NASDAQ MarketSite in Time Square, New York City to celebrate the Index and bring attention to the strength of the technology and life science industries in our region.

In January 2006, the Chamber and The NASDAQ Stock Market joined together to create the NASDAQ/Dallas Regional Chamber Index, also named DTEC in reference to its official ticker symbol on the NASDAQ board. DTEC was developed as a regional technology and life science Index to help provide DFW with local and international visibility for cutting-edge innovation and accomplishments in the fields of high technology and life science. Thirty-three leading companies from these fields, publicly traded and headquartered in the greater Dallas area, are included on the Index. The Index serves as a snapshot of the technology economy and is used for economic development and marketing purposes.

The 2008 Closing Bell Ceremony will allow technology and life science executives from regional companies to join Index company representatives to showcase the talent and expertise located in the Dallas technology industries. Following this unique ceremony, executives will take part in an evening cocktail reception, sponsored by Bank of Texas and Wyndham Jade, at the NASDAQ MarketSite.

Executives from across North Texas can support the region’s technology industries and watch the Closing Bell Ceremony on September 19th by visiting www.DTECatNASDAQ.org the day of the event and following the instructions for the webcam.

The Technology Business Council partners with NASDAQ and USI on the Index project throughout the year to highlight these outstanding companies in DFW.
