According to the Census Bureau, Hispanics make up the largest minority group in Texas and in California, but have also become the largest minority group in the nation, accounting for 15% of the population in mid-2007.
The increase in population, along with the large percentage of Hispanics attending college and the growing rate of Hispanics holding a bachelor's degree, indicates that the number of Hispanic-owned businesses will continue to increase, especially in Texas and California.
One avenue through which the Dallas Regional Chamber continues to support minority-and women-owned businesses is via the Procurement Luncheon Series.
The Procurement Luncheons give minority- and women-owned businesses the opportunity to meet with major area corporations to discover their unique procurement processes, supplier diversity, and requirements for doing business.
These luncheons allow attendees to maximize their corporate connections, establish new relationships, reinforce their own services/capabilities, and learn about any opportunities the sponsoring companies have available.
Minority and women business owners can also benefit from bid opportunities, a Corporate Procurement Guidebook and an Access to Capital Guidebook available at www.dallaschamber.org/mwbd.
