Dallas/Fort Worth Tops Major Metropolitan Areas for Job Growth

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that total employment in July 2008 for the Dallas region stood at just over three million, an increase of 68,000 jobs over the year, while nationwide jobs declined by 0.1%. Dallas/Fort Worth was closely followed by Houston which saw 2.2% job growth. Of the 12 major metropolitan areas, five—including Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Detroit—saw a decline during this same period.
