From their mentors, young professionals receive guidance on career pathing, community involvement and candid feedback on how to handle various situations in the workplace.
The program was launched in 2007 by YP member Jamar Johnson with Wachovia. Forty-two Leadership Dallas Alumni signed up to serve as a mentors and 50 YP members completed applications.
This month kicks off the second year of the mentoring program, providing new alumni of Leadership Dallas the opportunity to serve as a mentor to a Young Professional member. The program's new structure will include a focus on quarterly topics such as philanthropy, community issues, career pathing and politics. The 2008 - 2009 chair is Sam Jarvis, YP Member with Sterling Bank.
The mentoring program is one of many within YP that offers a unique opportunity to emerging leaders. Others include the CEO luncheon series, Behind Closed Doors tours, and educational breakfast events.
If you would like more information on joining the Young Professionals or know of a young leader in your organization that you would like to get involved, please contact Julie Tanner at 214.746.6741 or yp@dallaschamber.org.
