NTEC is building its new headquarters, located at 6170 Research Road in Frisco, at the 30-acre medical technology park which was funded by an $11 million bond issue passed by the Frisco Economic Development Corporation (FEDC).
The two-story, 50,000 square-foot state-of-the-art medtech facility, designed by Croft Architectural Consortium, includes 10,000 square feet of highly flexible lab space, 80 offices and 30 cubes that will house as many as 25 entrepreneurial medical device and technology businesses.
“We designed this facility from the ground up to meet the unique needs of start-up technology based businesses,” said Larry Calton, Executive Director of NTEC. “The facility has a modern industrial feel, with exposed ceilings, indirect lighting, and abundant glass, steel and concrete.”
“However, under this industrial exterior is a high-tech facility with a cutting-edge security system, WiFi throughout, flat panel LCD monitors in common areas and conference rooms and an amazing lobby that will be home to educational kiosks focused on science and technology,” added Calton.
The building opens in November, and incentives will be offered to potential tenants. “During our pre-leasing campaign, applicants can take advantage of first-mover discounted rates,” said Dr. Hubert Zajicek, director of NTEC.
NTEC’s expansion and substantial growth mirrors increased research and development investment in medical technology at the state, national and international levels. With this new facility, NTEC expects to further expand their development of emerging medtech companies while continuing to serve as the leading catalyst for development of a medtech cluster in North Texas.
