Leading the council this year is '04 graduate Aleta Stampley, Senior Vice President & Global Community Impact Manager of Bank of America where she is part of several teams including the Dallas Foundation Committee, Women's Mentoring Group and currently the co-executive sponsor of the Black Professionals Group (BPG) in Dallas. BPG focuses on professional development, community outreach, awareness and access to resources. Current projects at Bank of America include working on two large grants that will be announced November 6.
Stampley also serves as Fund Development Committee Chair for The Real Estate Council (TREC) Foundation Board and is on their strategic planning committee. This role involves corporate fundraising for community development projects throughout Dallas. Nonprofits selected by TREC not only receive cash grants but technical assistance, including pro-bono legal work, architects and project managers, to reduce the cost of their real estate projects. . Under Stampley's leadership, the committee is on track to exceed its fundraising goal this year.
Stampley has continued to serve at St. Philips School, the benefactor of the '04 class project. She has been on the Community Center Board for 4 years and says "I will do anything they ask me to...". Other areas of involvement include serving on the boards of Big Thought (now Thriving Minds), Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Dallas Center for the Performing Arts.
Leadership Dallas Alumni Advisory Council chair-elect and '05 graduate Jerry Smiley is Vice President/Corporate Environmental Manager with URS Corporation. Smiley is actively involved with Leadership Dallas, Leadership Arlington, and Boy Scouts of America training scout leaders. He facilitates Leadership Development training for a number of groups and has worked with Leadership Dallas and the Young Professionals of Greater Dallas.
Through their contributions this year, the council has created new avenues of communication, hosted a number of successful events, developed partnerships within the community, and enhanced the membership benefits for fellow alumni.
