Connecting DFW Businesses with Korean Technology

Korea Tech Preview (KTP) 2008—sponsored by the Dallas Regional Chamber and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency of Dallas (KOTRA)—connects consumer electronics and South Korean IT companies with North Texas partners.

This year, KTP 2008 will be held November 5 and 6 at the Sheraton Hotel Dallas, and will include two luncheon forums, a trade show, one-on-one meetings, and networking opportunities.

This complimentary event features luncheons from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on both days. Expert speakers from KOTRA, Texas Instruments, Samsung, LG Electronics, IBM, Burrill & Company and Ascend Marketing will talk about the future of consumer electronics and the Korean IT business environment.

“As a strategic partner, Korea offers a multitude of advantages including a strong manufacturing base, state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and a strategic location as a gateway to emerging markets in East Asia,” said Hwan Eik Cho, President and CEO of KOTRA.

South Korea is currently DFW’s second largest trading partner. In 2007, trade between DFW and Korea totaled $4.6 billion U.S. dollars. Among the top items traded were consumer electronics.

“Throughout my 8 year association with KOTRA, they have been instrumental in generating trade between Korea and North Texas,” said Steve Boecking, Vice President, Hillwood Development Corporation and leading advisor for the Chamber’s initiatives in South Korea.
