The Dallas Regional Chamber recognizes our area universities, colleges, community colleges, and medical schools are the key to the future economic vitality of our region and places high priority on their legislative issues and funding requests. Higher education has a significant impact on the Texas economy, returning more than $5.00 for every $1.00 of state general revenue invested and creating significant economic impact for the region and state.
On March 10, members of the Young Professionals will head to Austin for a day at the Capitol and to advocate on behalf of the Chamber for Higher Education. This event will allow members to interact with elected officials and learn first-hand how effective advocacy for targeted public policy issues can improve the business environment and quality of life in North Texas.
In preparation for this trip, YP members will hear from Diane Yanaway, Director of Public Advocacy at Energy Future Holdings, Annette Ratliff, District Aide to Senator John Carona, and Patti Clapp, Vice President of Talent, Workforce & Education at the Dallas Regional Chamber at an advocacy training breakfast on March 6. Attendees will receive an overview of how business professionals advocate for their organization, as well as an update on the priorities for Higher Education.
The Young Professionals, a leadership development program designed for those 25-40, has become the go-to organization for young professionals looking to engage in the Dallas business community, learn about issues, interact with regional leaders and give back in a meaningful way.
