A delegation of about 20 business, government and media executives from the Region of Valencia, Spain, visited Dallas on November 20 and 21. As part of their agenda, the delegation, led by the Hon. Francisco Camps Ortiz, president of the Region of Valencia, inaugurated the Dallas office of the Foreign Trade Agency for the Region of Valencia, otherwise known by its Spanish acronym IVEX. The Dallas IVEX Office is responsible for the internationalization of the business community of the Comunitat Valenciana in Spain in the Dallas region.

Following the inaugural ribbon-cutting, the Hon. Belen Juste, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Innovation for the Generalitat Valenciana and Ms. Meredith L. Dowling, Vice President of International and Technology Business Development for the Dallas Regional Chamber, signed a cooperation agreement between the Dallas Regional Chamber and IVEX. The agreement formalizes the two organizations' working relationship and paves the way for future collaborations. Victor Almeida, CEO of Interceramic Inc. and Chairman of the Chamber’s International Business Council and President Camps provided remarks on the potential for trade development between our two regions.

The Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations hosted President Camps for a luncheon program. Later that evening the delegation hosted invited guests for the opening of the Region of Valencia Show House in Dallas' Preston Hollow neighborhood with a formal ribbon cutting that included many distinguished guests both from Dallas and Valencia including: the Hon. Francisco Camps Ortiz; Dr. Elba Garcia, Dallas Mayor Pro Tem; and the Hon. Janet Kafka, honorary consul of Spain in Dallas. A first of its kind, the private home is completely dressed with products from Valencia, including furniture, lighting, textiles, fashion, shoes, children's fashion, toys, ceramic tile, food and wine.
