Women's Business Conference to Present Closing Keynote Speaker Jane Seymour

The Dallas Regional Chamber is proud to announce the addition of yet another exceptional speaker for the 13th Annual Women’s Conference. Award-winning actress, author and entrepreneur Jane Seymour joins a Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York at this year’s event. Taking place October 14, 2008, at the Dallas Convention Center, the Conference has been uniting thousands of professionals for a day of personal and professional growth and networking since 1996. Jackson Walker L.L.P. and Wachovia Bank serve as Platinum sponsors of this year's event.

Seymour, best known for her Golden Globe-winning role as “Dr. Michaela Quinn” on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, has showcased her talents on the Broadway stage, in motion pictures, and on television. Dubbed a “Renaissance Woman” by the press, Seymour recently launched the new Jane Seymour Home Collection – a national lifestyle brand and the Open Heart by Jane Seymour™ jewelry collection. In addition, she is an established author and artist. She has written eight books, including "Remarkable Changes: Turning Life’s Challenges into Opportunities" and will share how she has triumphed over personal adversity.

This year’s luncheon keynote speaker has also overcome numerous personal obstacles. Sarah Ferguson, The Duchess of York is a successful business woman, philanthropist and the founder of Hartmoor Media LLP, a lifestyle and media company. She has served as a spokesperson for charitable and corporate organizations including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and Weight Watchers. In addition, Ferguson is the author of several children’s books. She has faced numerous obstacles during her extraordinary life and in her presentation will candidly discuss her most formidable challenges. The Duchess of York credits her faith, values, and devotion to family, for enabling her to navigate crisis and grow from life’s experiences.

The 2008 Conference boasts a stellar line-up featuring topics that range from brain health to networking. Other nationally recognized speakers include:

  • The Drum Café, an energy filled, team building experience! Hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa, this interactive drumming troupe helps companies and their employees find their rhythm, create synergy, and come together to meet vital organizational goals.
  • Major General (ret.) Mary Saunders, the executive director of the Leadership Institute at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas.  Saunders also served as Vice Director for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), where she was responsible for a workforce of over 22,000 military and civilian personnel located both overseas and across the United States, who ensured the procurement and delivery of food, fuel, uniforms, medical supplies, and spare parts for all military services.  Her agency was responsible for more than $28 billion in sales in 2005.

SEMINAR SPEAKERS:

  • Sandra Chapman, PhD. and Jennifer Zientz – Sandra Chapman Ph.D. is the executive director of The University of Texas at Dallas Center for BrainHealth.  Dr. Chapman and Jennifer Zientz will lead “Your Brain is Your Business,” a seminar focused on the three pivotal brain functions that can make or break productivity.
  • Terri Langhans – Terri Langhans is an author, CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) and COE (Chief of Everything) at Blah Blah Blah. She will facilitate an interactive workshop on networking entitled “Blah Blah Blah:  How to stand out in the marketplace and be anything but boring.”
  • Michele Hanson is the president of ExecuInsight, LLC.  Hanson’s topic will unlock the critical cultural differences that males and females encounter and the genetic reasons why women may not always support each other.
  • Rosalyn Taylor O’Neale  is a former Executive Vice President of diversity at MTV Networks and author of the book "7keys to Success".  Taylor O’Neale’s topic will focus on attaining bold personal and professional distinction.

The Conference features the presentation of the ATHENA® Award, sponsored by Chase. The award, a national program, recognizes the accomplishments of a Dallas businesswoman. Additionally, there will be booksignings and an evening reception.
